gourd gourd gourd gourd

  Welcome to My Web Site

A gourd can be the most beautiful or the ugliest thing you have ever seen; it starts out as a wonderful vine full of white flowers both male and female. When the gourds start appearing, they are small and a wonderful green. As they grow and take their shape the green and natural sheen just take your breath away and you wonder about nature and the gift she is building right in front of your eyes. After the hot summer days and the long growing season starts to end, the green beauties fade almost as if something has sucked the life right out of them, after a while they be come a dull brown and the vine they are attached to starts to dry as well. They begin to look old and lifeless. They turn from fresh , green and vibrant to tan, dry and moldy. In the hands of a gourd artist it is lifted, turned, viewed from every possible direction and studied. Once cleaned and mold removed the magic begins. Art from the heart, one gourd at a time.

I'm hoping that this site will generate interest in the humble gourd. From growing them to safely working with them to the finished product . I will attempt to answer any questions you have and if I don't have the answer I will certainly find it for you. Along with all the information I will introduce you to my artist friends and their work.

Please make yourself at home click on the links and enjoy. Come back and visit as often as you like don't forget to sign my guest book before you leave.
